A simple two-team scoreboard for basketball: tap +1 Point for either side, track the score quarter by quarter, rename the teams, and correct the tally instantly if you misclick. Nothing you tap is sent anywhere — the score is saved only in this browser.
Frequently asked questions
Does this sync between two devices, e.g. both team benches?
No. The score lives only in your browser on the device you’re tapping on (see the privacy notice) — it never reaches a server. Whoever is keeping score should use a single device.
I tapped the wrong team by mistake — how do I fix it?
Tap −1 under that team to back the point off, or tap directly on the score to type the exact correct number. The new number saves immediately.
Will I lose the score if I close the tab or my phone locks?
No — the score is saved to your browser’s local storage after every tap, so it’s still there when you reopen this page on the same device and browser. Clearing your browser data, using a private/incognito window, or switching devices resets it.
Can I rename the teams?
Yes — tap either team name field and type the real team names. They’re saved alongside the score and included in the copied final-score summary.
How do I start a new game?
Tap "Reset game" and confirm. There’s no undo, so only use it once the previous game’s result is recorded.
How does the quarter-by-quarter score work?
Tap "Next quarter →" when a quarter ends. Points you tap after that count toward the next quarter, and the total above adds all quarters together. The breakdown table shows each quarter’s score separately, and it’s included in the copied final-score summary. The button disables itself after the fourth quarter — there’s no overtime tracking in this version.
Does this track 2-point vs 3-point shots or free throws?
No — this is a simple point tally for two teams, deliberately not a full match-officiating tool. Every basket is a single +1 tap regardless of shot value; if you want to track 2s and 3s separately, tap +1 the right number of times for each basket, or use −1 to correct a mistake.
How does the game clock work?
Set the quarter length in minutes, then tap "Start" to count down; "Pause" stops it, and it keeps the time you paused at. It’s a plain countdown — nothing happens automatically when it reaches 0:00, and it doesn’t advance the quarter for you. Tapping "Next quarter →" resets the clock to the full quarter length and pauses it, ready for you to start the next quarter yourself.
How do timeouts work?
Set how many timeouts each team gets and how long each one lasts, then tap "Timeout" under a team to start theirs — it automatically pauses the game clock. The timeout counts down on its own; when it ends, the game clock stays paused until you tap "Start" again. Only one team’s timeout can run at a time. Changing the timeout count or length mid-game doesn’t give back timeouts already used — only "Reset game" does that.
